We’re especially pleased that Chef Nikia Spotts of Noire Chef Boston will cater our 55th Anniversary Garden Celebration. Nikia is also a CACC alumna, making her participation particularly meaningful as we celebrate the generations of children and families who have been part of our community since 1971. Guests can look forward to enjoying food from Noire Chef as part of an afternoon of live music, celebration, and community.

We’re delighted to welcome Seventh Sun to our 55th Anniversary Garden Celebration. Performing with a quartet, Seventh Sun will bring a warm blend of jazz, soul, and contemporary sounds to the CACC campus—the perfect soundtrack for an afternoon of food, friends, and celebration in the garden.

Where is the event?
The event is on CACC’s Campus at 105 Crawford Street. The entrance is through the green gate on Humboldt Avenue.
What should I wear?
Garden party attire — festive, comfortable, and not overly formal. Fancy hats are encouraged! (And we'll have some fascinators available at the event.)
Since we’ll be celebrating outdoors in the garden, we recommend shoes that are comfortable on grass. A light layer may also be a good idea as the afternoon goes on.
Think festive afternoon garden party, not formal gala.
Is the event adults only?
Yes. The 55th Anniversary Garden Celebration is an adults-only (21+) event.
Where do I park?
Complimentary parking will be available at CACC. We encourage guests who are able to comfortably walk a short distance to use nearby street parking when possible, so that the closest spaces can remain available for guests with mobility concerns.
Overflow parking will also be available nearby at the Ellis Elementary School and the Trotter K–8 School, each about .3 mile from CACC.
Can I get there without a car?
Yes! CACC is accessible by public transportation. CACC is directly on the 32, 34, 36, and 44 bus routes, with a stop directly in front of our campus.
Will the event be outdoors? What if it rains?
Yes! The celebration will take place in CACC’s garden, with a large tent for the main gathering. The event will take place rain or shine.
If rain is in the forecast, we recommend bringing an umbrella for moving around the campus. In the event of weather severe enough that we need to cancel or make a significant change to the event, we’ll email registered guests and post an update on our website.
Will food and drinks be served?
Absolutely! Food and drinks are included with admission and will be served throughout the afternoon.
Noire Chef Boston will offer a generous reception featuring passed hors d’oeuvres, charcuterie, and Southern-inspired stationary dishes. The menu includes mini chicken & waffles, beef Wellington tarts, smoked chicken, grilled sweet potatoes, seasonal salads, local cheeses, and more.
Beer, wine, sparkling water, and assorted nonalcoholic beverages are also included with admission.
What if I have dietary restrictions or food allergies?
Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options will be available. Noire Chef Boston can also accommodate other food allergies and dietary needs. Please speak with a member of the Noire Chef Boston team at the event, and they will be happy to help you identify appropriate options.
Where are the restrooms?
Restrooms will be available inside the Children’s Center. Signs will direct guests from the garden to the designated restrooms and back to the celebration.
Will I be able to see the Children’s Center?
Yes! We plan to offer brief guided tours of the CACC campus at designated times during the afternoon for guests who would like to see more of the Children’s Center and learn about our programs and history.
Tour times and the meeting location will be announced at the event.
What can I expect at the event?
Come ready to celebrate! The afternoon will feature delicious food from Noire Chef Boston, live music by Seventh Sun and his quartet, beer and wine, a terrific silent auction, and a short program including reflections on 55 years of Crispus Attucks Children’s Center, and a special celebration of Lesley Christian and her extraordinary 35 years of leadership.
Most of all, it’s a chance to gather with friends of CACC — past and present — for a festive afternoon in the garden as we celebrate where we’ve been and look ahead to what comes next.
Are tickets, auction purchases, and donations tax deductible?
Your $75 event ticket is not tax deductible. Generally, the tax-deductible portion of an event ticket is the amount paid above the fair market value of the goods and services received. The estimated fair market value of food and beverages at this event is $80 per guest — $53 for food and $27 for beverages — which exceeds the $75 ticket price.
For silent auction items, the amount of a winning bid that exceeds the advertised fair market value of the item may be tax deductible. For example, if you win an item valued at $400 with a $500 bid, $100 may be tax deductible. If you pay $500 for an item valued at $500 or more, there is no tax-deductible portion.
Donations made during the event and donated tickets for others to attend are fully tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.
CACC will provide appropriate gift acknowledgments. Please consult your tax advisor regarding your individual circumstances.
